The Organization of American States reject Washington's agenda The neo-fascists gave it their best shot at the OAE The neo-fascists had sent one of their own, the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to try to promote a so called "Democratic letter of the Organization of American States " (OAE). This proposal, which was contrived by the goons in Washington had the "noble" idea, as Condoleezza Rice put it, of "monitoring and promoting democracy in the continent". Even the would be emperor of the world George Bush went to Fort Lauderdale to address the OAE. The butcher of Bagdad went on puke out the usual verbal vomit about how democracy should be supported by all and that mechanisms that support democracy - you know what that means -; he tried to sell his new schemes by ranting about how democracy should be embraced by all those that love freedom. All of this while the brutal occupation of Iraq continues; while the torture in Afghanistan, Iraq and Guantanamo continues. By the way, while in Fort Lauderdale el presidente said nothing about Cuban-American terrorist Posada Carriles; in fact he had a meeting in that City with one of Posada Carrile's cronies and allies: Alberto Hernandez. Both Rice - Madame death - and the emperor did all they could in this new charade based on lies and hypocrisy. The two pompous asses came down to give dictates on what should and should not be done by their loyal subjects. With all their rhetoric it was clear to most at the Assembly that this was a new con by the butchers of the world. Even with the approval of some puppet states such as El Salvador and Colombia the proposal was soundly defeated. If Washington's proposal had been approved it would have given the Empire a Carte Blanch to invoke sanctions and possible military aggression against those that violated the Democratic Letter. It should be clear for anyone with a little sense that the so called Democratic Letter would have without a doubt be used against any Latin American nation who the Empire dislikes; specifically, all those whose national policies goes against the imperial agenda would have been at risk and attacked; all those subservient to Washington's whims and appetites would have been spared while those that rebel against Washington's predatory practices would have felt the sting of the master's whip. The first nation that Washington and the OAE would come after of course would be Venezuela. There is little doubt that the Letter of Democracy would have been used against that country in order to bring down the government of Hugo Chavez; it would have been used to establish a democracy, the kind of democracy that would be of course friendly to the imperialist predator; a government eager to give it's natural resources at wholesale prices. Ultimately, even though Cuba is not a member of the OAE the so called Letter would have been used to isolate Cuba, to further strangle their economy with the final goal taking a military route. What the biggest butchers wanted in this resolution was to legitimize their schemes of domination and to give them a free hand in meddling in the affairs of other - as they have always done - only when it is convenient to do so. As long as the government of the state does not interfere with the interests of the mafia in Washington, the mafia looks the other way. That is the case of Mexico, Colombia, El Salvador, just to name a few, where reporters and human rights activists have been murdered wholesale; places where the authorities and their prospective governments turn a blind eye. That the neo-Nazis where pushing their agendas in the OAE sort of reminds one of the gangsters and Mafiosos who try to achieve some sort of respectability for their evil empires by going "legit". What really is really loco is how these butchers, which have broken all international laws, who at this very moment have the Iraqis in chain, killing them in masses, which have turned to torture, and who have little respect for the culture of others are able to speak with about democracy and human rights. The smirks on the faces of Rice and Bush as they talk about democracy and human rights is enough to make one nauseous. Brazil was one of the nations to reject Washington's agenda as the Brazilian diplomat before the OAE, Celso Amorim, stated, "Democracy cannot be imposed; it must come about through a dialogue", adding that the Democratic Letter which was approved in 2001, which was firm in it's demands, balanced and based on dialogue and non-intervention was the key in assuring democracy. The diplomat went on to say that while dire economic and social conditions are not dealt with in our continent some countries will continue to suffer the consequences of upheavals. Another setback for the Empire came before Venezuelan television when the diplomat of the OAE of that nation, Alí Rodríguez Araque, declared, "the OAE reiterates it's intentions of respecting the sovereignty, political independence, and the principles of international law; all of which are the principles of the organization and which guarantee peace in our hemisphere." Lastly, food for thought. When one contemplates on the number of butchers Washington has financed and abetted in this hemisphere over the years, the constant chatter of democracy and human rights lose their meaning. What was Washington and the OAE doing while butchers like Pinochet were doing their evil deeds? What did the OAE do while the dictatorships in the 70's and the 80's where committing mass murders, all under Operation Condor carried out by the CIA? One last question is the Empire losing it for after all when did it ever need permission to impose their will or to invade another country? Even with it's long history of complicity with Washington, it seems that to many in the organization, the Empire had gone to far this time . | ||||||||||||||||||
