100 millions for political mercenaries

In 1898, Cuba was on the verge of winning it's war of independence against Spain and thus on the brink of obtaining it's independence when it's dreams was interrupted by US intervention.  Four years later, on the 20th of May of 1902, with the US occupational force still on the island, Cuba became officially a republic.  This independence was in reality just a farce as it really became a neocolonial state under US dictates and whims; that is until it's real liberation in 1959.

Thus, it is not a surprise that Pres. George Bush on the 20th of May announced a series of new anti Cuban measures sponsored by senators Jesse Helms and Joseph Lieberman, all with the aim of destabilizing Cuba's Socialist government. For traditionally, US presidents have used this date to express their hostilities against the Cuban revolution, as well as to appease, both the right wing Cuban exile element and the US right wing.

The US government and their allies the recalcitrant Cuban "exile", for more than 40 years have tried to destroy the Cuban revolution with a variety of weapons ranging from propaganda to terrorist acts.  One of the most potent weapons used by the US in it's war against Cuba has been the financing of dissidents and terrorists both inside and outside the island.  That is why it is not surprising for the imposed Pres. Bush to try to satisfy the demands of this reactionary sector of the Cuban's living in the US and to announce the authorization of 100 million dollars to finance counterrevolutionary groups inside the island.

With this huge sum of money the empire hopes it can finance and buy political mercenaries, destabilize Cuba's Socialist government, and thus transform the island into what it was before: a people living under the boots of US imperialism and under the control of Miami's exile thugs.

In it's hatred of Cuba, the empire is all too willing to spend 100 million of our tax money, to pay for dissidence, but it is not willing to spend it here where it really belongs.  It would be better if Washington would put aside it's arrogance and would stop using this money to meddle in the affairs of other countries.  It would be wiser if this money were to be used to better the hospitals and schools in minority communities; and most importantly if were used to fight poverty - as one in every child in the US is currently living in poverty.
